The Sapphire Inn on Sapphire Lake
One of five hotels built by the Lake Toxaway Hotel Group in the late 1890's, Sapphire Inn was just 5 miles from Fairfield Inn - but by horse and buggy - a long ride.
Today Sapphire Lake is known as Whisper Lake. Sapphire Inn was lost in the early 1930's by fire.
The foundation of the Inn was still visible just a few years ago near Old Sapphire Post Office Road and the lake.
