Sharon Holt, daughter Anna and Rick Stargel successfully removed over 30 years of ivy and organic matter to reveal the well preserved Stone Basin / Wishing Well!
What we discovered was a perfectly carved stone basin in the center of the seating area.
Additional research indicates the basin itself may be a Creek Indian relic over hundreds of years old.
Records show Creek and Cherokee Indians occupied this section of Western North Carolina in the 1700 and early 1800's.
